The hot holiday weekend begins with sizzle and spice as Kultura Borikua heats up the night with Latin Salsa from 5:00-8:00 PM on Thursday, July 3rd as part of the Wadsworth's Phoenix Art After Hours program.  Put on your dancing shoes and step up to sensual salsa with a dance instructor to help you feel the heat. Wear red and receive a coupon for a $1 discount on a beverage of your choice. Complementing the Latin American flavor of the night is the feature film Lovesickness (Maldeamores), Puerto Rico's official submission to the Best Foreign Language Film Category of the 2008 Academy Awards, showing at 7:30 PM, and an engaging discussion on 20th Century Latin American Art with Dr. Robin Greeley.

Hartford Symphony to Celebrate America July 4 and 5
at Talcott Mountain Music Festival
American Composers to be featured at Concerts
followed by Fireworks Spectacular

In keeping with the Talcott Mountain Music Festival's annual re-white-and blue tradition, the Hartford Symphony Orchestra presents Celebrate America! on Friday, July 4th and Saturday, July 5th at 7:30 p.m. at the Performing Arts Center at Simsbury Meadows.  Led by Hartford Symphony Music Director Edward Cumming, these concerts will feature favorites including selections form Leonard Bernstein's West Side Story, Aaron Copland's ballet Rodeo, and Richard Rodgers musical The Sound of Music.  The traction performance of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture and John Philip Sousa's Stars Stripes Forever will conclude the concerts.  As a special encore to the patriotic musical programs, a Fireworks Spectacular sponsored by Paine's Inc. (conditions permitting) will send the Hartford Symphony's Celebrate America! concerts out with a bang.

The Celebrate America! concerts are made possible by sponsorship from the Hilton Hartford Hotel.  The Talcott Mountain Music Festival is present by Chubb.

The Celebrate America! concerts begin at 7:30p.m. (rain or shine) with gates opening at 6:00p.m. Free to all ticket holders, the Hartford Symphony Musical Pathways Tent will be open from 6:00pm. to 7:15p.m., engaging children with fun, music-themed games before each concert.  All ticket holders can also enjoy a free pre-concert performance presented by students of the Hartt School Community Division at 6:30p.m.  For further information go to www.hartfordsymphony.org
